Among the most anticipated moments are the first collections of Sabato De Sarno for Gucci, who succeeded Alessandro Michele as artistic director, and Simone Bellotti for Bally, who landed at the Swiss luxury brand after 20 years of experience as a creative at major Italian fashion houses. There was also great fanfare for the young brands that will be treading the catwalk for the first time: Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini’s The Attico, making its MFW debut after years of presentations and side events; AVAVAV, a sustainable luxury brand based in Florence; and Karoline Vitto, a Brazilian designer supported by Dolce&Gabbana.
Another high-profile name is Tom Ford, who will present the first collection of new creative director Peter Hawkings. And then important moments of celebration: fashion week will mark the return of Fiorucci, a historic Milanese brand inaugurating a new page in its history, the 40th anniversary of Moschino, with a tribute to its founder, and Walter Chiapponi’s farewell to Tod’s. It starts on September 19 with an opening day featuring the Breast Cancer Fashion Show, a fashion show to raise awareness on the issue of breast cancer, the Milano Moda Graduate, an event dedicated to the work of the most important Italian fashion schools, and the opening of the Fashion Hub of the Italian Chamber of Fashion at Palazzo Giureconsulti.
On Sept. 20, the Milan Fashion Week shows get into full swing with iconic brands such as Fendi, Alberta Ferretti, Roberto Cavalli and Diesel, which will close the day with a show open to the public. Also among the highlights of the day will be the launch of the Moncler x Pharrell Williams

Fashion giants such as Prada, Max Mara and Emporio Armani, on the other hand, will take the stage on Thursday, Sept. 21. On this day, however, the lights will be mainly on Moschino’s 40th candles show and Peter Hawkings’ debut as artistic director of Tom Ford.
